Symbols in Christian Art
by Gladys G. Sotomayor on 11/1/2007 11:31:28 AM

Stairway to Heaven
I have received various e-mails concerning this painting.  Some have relating to the compostion as a whole and others have related to the use of symbols.  I am interested in finding out how many viewers can actually pick out the symbols and relate to them or define them in Christian or spiritual terms.  This particular painting was a creation in process where the inspiration for some of the symbols emerged as I worked on the painting as a whole.  The overall compostion came from a dream.

The mixture of symbols with your imagination are fantastic. Eventhough I can not dicipher all the symbols the overall effect of the painting is very spiritual. Loved it! RTH

Hi Gladys-

I came across your blog while searching the web and your artwork seems to be very much inspired much like that of another artist, Sandra Perini. Her work can be found at www.amariahart.com should be interested.
